At LastBot, we're passionate about empowering businesses with practical, innovative AI. We're looking for an experienced Machine Learning Engineer to join our remote-first team, crafting the intelligent models and data pipelines that drive our AI-powered products and custom client projects. 

At the heart of the role

You’ll design, train and deploy the machine learning models that power our customer‑communication tools and other AI solutions. Working hand‑in‑hand with data engineers, backend developers and UX designers, you’ll turn raw data into human‑centred intelligence our users can trust.

What You'll Do:

• Own the full machine learning lifecycle, including data prep, feature engineering, model training, evaluation, deployment and monitoring.
• Develop production‑grade models for NLP, predictive analytics, retrieval‑augmented generation (RAG) and more.
• Build robust data pipelines with your data‑ and backend‑engineering peers to ensure clean, reliable training data.
• Integrate models into products through well‑designed APIs and MLOps best practices.
• Experiment fast using AI‑assisted IDEs (Cursor, Windsurf) and GitHub Copilot for rapid prototyping.
• Measure and iterate by tracking performance, detect drift and optimize accuracy, speed and cost.
• Share knowledge & mentor colleagues, contributing to our growing ML culture at LastBot.

Essential for success:

• You have 5+ years of hands-on experience in machine learning or data science (or an equivalent research background).
• You have strong Python skills and are deeply familiar with TensorFlow or PyTorch (bonus if you’ve worked with NLP, LLMs, or RAG).
• You have a proven track record of deploying models to production in cloud environments such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• You understand MLOps tools and practices well, e.g. MLflow, Kubeflow, CI/CD for machine learning.
• You have experience building or maintaining data pipelines using SQL/NoSQL, ETL processes, or streaming data.
• You enjoy using or experimenting with modern AI‑assisted development tools like Cursor, Windsurf and Copilot.
• You are a clear communicator who thrives in an async, remote-first culture and embraces continuous learning.
• You're based anywhere in Finland, with willingness to occasionally travel to Helsinki or Oulu for team events.
