At LastBot, we're passionate about empowering businesses with practical, innovative AI. We're looking for an experienced Backend / Data Engineer to join our remote-first team, building the robust foundations and intelligent workflows that power our AI-driven products and custom client projects.

At the heart of the role

You’ll be a key player in building the core infrastructure that powers our AI-driven customer communication tools. This means working closely with machine learning engineers, designers, and frontend developers to create seamless, intelligent experiences for our users.

What You'll Do:

• Design, develop, and scale backend services, APIs, and microservices that power our AI applications.
• Build and optimize data pipelines and manage databases (SQL/NoSQL) ensuring reliability and performance.
• Collaborate closely with our ML and frontend teams to integrate advanced AI models into client solutions.
• Ensure security, scalability, and best practices are embedded into our technology stack.
• Mentor team members and actively contribute to the evolving engineering culture at LastBot.

Essential for success:

• You have about 5+ years experience developing backend services and managing data-intensive systems.
• You're experienced with Python and other backend technologies, cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure/GCP), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and database management.
• You've built data pipelines, managed ETL processes, and understand database optimization.
• You have experience integrating or deploying machine learning models (or have a keen interest to learn).
• You enjoy using or experimenting with modern AI development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or similar platforms to enhance your workflow.
• You communicate effectively, love remote collaboration, and embrace continuous learning.
• You're based anywhere in Finland, with willingness to occasionally travel to Helsinki or Oulu for team events.
